June Favorites
What I have been wearing, eating, doing, using, seeing, listening to, and loving! Past Lives, Brooklyn cocktail bars, Paloma Wool, to name a few
I know I said May flew by…but June really really flew by; I feel like the summer months are starting to blur together. That being said, here's a condensed version of my June favorites (because my mind is already too much in July)
(Also, thinking about changing the categories of my favorites to fit each month better. Thoughts?)
1. Wearing
I visited the Paloma Wool Pop-Up in Soho this month with my internet friend, Cat (@catherineannechiang in IG), who was visiting from LA. I was most interested in trying on their clothing pieces since they do not have a permanent physical store in New York. Cue me having a whole photoshoot in the fitting room.

I was originally really into the Jay dress, that could be worn different ways depending on how you tie the top part. But I didn't know if I really loved it, especially for the price, so I did not end up purchasing anything… the first time.

However, I kept thinking about it so I went back the next week to try it on again hehe. Although I did really like it, I felt I already had other pieces in my wardrobe that reminded me of it. BUT, I fell in love with the Leonora bag so I ended up purchasing it on my second visit. The color first attracted me to it (big purple fan) and I also really liked the wide crossbody strap and size of the bag. I didn't have any bags with that structure; it's my version of a messenger bag/crossbody bag. It also reminds me of a mix between the Loewe Puzzle Hobo bag and Fendi Baguette bag, which are two handbags I have on my wishlist. See how I have been styling the Leonora bag:

2. Eats
This KBBQ restaurant rivals the famous Cote Steakhouse in my opinion. Nubiani had high quality meat and some unique banchan like pickled pear and mashed sweet potato. If you cannot get a reservation at Cote, I suggest you go here!

Besides Nubiani, I did not dine out a lot this month. But I did visit my fair share of cocktail bars (coincidentally all in Brooklyn). Here are some my favs from this month:
Hotel Delmano - I got the ultimate martini duo: espresso martini and dirty gin martini; apparently also a good place for celebrity sightings (according to my friend) but sadly did not see any celebrities when I visited
Cherry on Top - super cute wine rooftop in Bushwick with a large selection of natural wines
Horses & Divorces - really vibey dive bar with intimate low lighting; perfect for a date or meeting people
Sauced - another wine bar in Brooklyn with a beautiful patio
3. Beauty/Skincare
Same as my May Favorites; my makeup/skincare routine has been the same, it's been too hot to experiment with anything new.
4. Media
Past Lives
If you have not seen Past Lives, please stop reading and go reserve a ticket asap!! Also thinking of dedicating a separate newsletter to my thoughts on this movie. TLDR, such a beautiful and sad film. I cried four separate times in the movie theater (don't worry, I was prepared and brought tissues). The two main characters had such beautiful chemistry; every time they looked at each other, I could immediately feel their unspoken emotions and tension. The ultimate "what if?" storyline.
Days of Being Wild
I went to see my first movie by myself this month (claps for me). I have made it my goal to see every Wong Kar-Wai film in theater. Metrograph was showing Days of Being Wild so I made it a solo-date adventure. Many of Wong Kar-Wai's films don't really have a complex plot; rather, he focuses on the way scenes are shot, imagery, and symbolism to evoke emotion.
5. Music
Maneskin - in the words of Maneskin, "Rock and Roll never dies"
Zella Day - underrated pop girlie; saw her in concert and her vocals and stage presence were everything
Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo - To be honest, I didn't really like this song the first time I listened to it. But then I listed to it a second time, and then another, and then another 10 times. Excited to hear the rest of the album.
ooh I think the bag is such a good choice! so versatile :)
