What I wore on my <48 hour trip to Montauk as a serial over packer
I packed three pairs of shoes if that's any indication!
Cue August by Taylor Swift (The Summer I Turned Pretty S2 Teaser edition). I lived out my TSITP fantasy (minus the summer romance) last month when my friend and I planned a short weekend trip to Montauk, Long Island over memorial day weekend. My goals for the trip: consume as much lobster as possible, read on the beach, and feel like the main character of a summer romcom. To accomplish that, I obviously had to meticulously plan all (four) of my outfits for my one night trip.
Insert my unpopular thoughts/feelings on travelling. It's not that I don't like travelling; who doesn't like visiting a new place, experiencing different cultures, eating yummy food, etc. It's the not having my entire closet/usual bathroom skincare routine setup that gives me anxiety. I am always impressed by people who travel with only one backpack. One backpack would barely fit all of my makeup/skincare. To combat this anxiety, I tend to pack as much of my home into my travel bag, which leads to me bringing three pairs of shoes for an overnight trip. A girl's gotta have options!
Outfit 1: Catching Z's on the LIRR/Exploring downtown Montauk
Ditched my usual travel sweats outfit since we planned to walk around downtown Montauk before our hotel room was ready when we got there. Love how y2k/little mermaid-esque this outfit turned out. I ate my first lobster roll of the trip at Hooked and visited all the cute shops.
Vintage blue floral skirt (from The Niche Shop)
Vintage Kate Spade bag (from Mercari) - wore this bag with every outfit! Obsessed with the colors and y2k vibes, it screams summer!
Clam necklace (from Serendipitous Project) - wore this with every single outfit as well; little mermaid who?

Outfit 2: Relaxing and slightly freezing on the beach
Even though it was still kind of chilly and windy, everyone was out in their swimsuits so we did the same. This was the first time I wore my Youswim swimsuit out to a beach and I love the way it fits! I read Woman Eating by Claire Kohda, which didn't really go with the summer vibes I was going for but a great book nonetheless. We then went seashell scavenging on our walk on the beach.

Outfit 3: Drinks and Dinner with the swans
We decided to grab dinner at the infamous Crow's Nest. I wore my Reformation dress I bought last year. The wait was around 2 hours so we grabbed (very overpriced) drinks at their beach bar first and people watched. A family of swans decided to grace us with their presence. After waiting way too long on the chilly beach, we finally sat down for dinner inside. I got the lobster pasta, obviously, and although everything was good, we came to the conclusion it was just okay considering the price and wait.

Outfit 4: Tourist moment at the Lighthouse/Travelling home
Day 2. I wanted to be comfortable since we were going to be walking around the Montauk Lighthouse Point and travelling home. I felt like my mom in the 90s in this outfit, especially with my film camera on my wrist. We grabbed breakfast at John's Pancake House and it was a much needed, no frills, diner style breakfast. My friend is a fan of the show The Affair, which takes place in Montauk, so we visited some places that were featured in the show, including the Montauk Lighthouse and Lobster Roll Amangansett. Feeling full and tired, we jumped on the LIRR and headed back to the city. Hopefully more coastal summer trips to come, and maybe this time I’ll find the Conrad to my Belly (sorry Jeremiah fans!)
